Resin and paper dust

The cycle of creation goes on by the rule of nature. “The Impermanence” conveys this universal truth through a combination of “existence” and “decay”.

In the first edition, Sanitas created this sculpture from recycled paper dust and water. Her research on the histories of paper and recycling led her to compare the cycle of paper and creation. The dust combines into a mass that is then turned into the paper until disintegrating back into dust. Likewise, from the earth, water, wind, and fire form a life that goes on until disintegrates into ashes.
