FOUR SEASONS GARDEN
For + House, A collaboration with Somdoon Architects
Completed 2019
From the beginning, the house and gardens were designed to create a seamless boundary between inside and outside and allow for natural cross ventilation. The building footprint was designed in a crossed shape for the cross ventilation for every room in the house. And all the rooms can interact with four zones of the garden.
We design four different characters of the garden for each zone and called it a “Four seasons garden”. The four seasons garden provides different atmospheres from function, color tones, sensation until type and texture of the trees in each zone.
The Herb Garden with KOI pond represents the Spring season; the joy, the colorful and fragrance. It locates between the formal living room, dining room, and guest room. The colorful edible plants and loosed gravel was juxtaposed with fragrance tree (Murraya and Gardenia) to create a relaxing atmosphere.
The Sculpture Garden represents the rainy season; Dark green, the formal and sculptural form of trees. It locates next to the Main Living Room. The various shades and texture of Pines trees were selected to be contrasted with a white gravel path to create a formal viewing Garden.
The Secret Garden represents the winter season; Light green, open lawn, and blowing in the wind. It is located between the master bedroom and another bedroom. If we are looking from the inside of the house, we would see the Light Green Tone from the lawn hills and the dynamic of Willow trees. The back of the lawn hill has been designed to be a seating area for a private living corner.
The Pool Garden represents the summer season; a swimming pool and tropical. It is located in a common area for the family. We design by using Tropical plants such as various ferns and betel nut trees to represent the fruit orchards of the Rama 2 district in the past.
All gardens can be connected to each other by The Connecting Pathway.
The Front Garden was designed to be a calm and elegant courtyard with a feature tree in the center and surrounded by bamboo gardens.
There is a large water feature wall to create the white noise of the waterfall to cut out of the hustle and bustle noise from the outside.
